Participant funding for the Regulatory Oversight Report for Uranium and Nuclear Substance Processing Facilities in Canada: 2016 review will be open from June 19 to August 21, 2017.

Participant funding notice

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist members of the public, Indigenous groups and other stakeholders in reviewing CNSC staff’s Regulatory Oversight Report for Uranium and Nuclear Substance Processing Facilities in Canada: 2016, and submitting written comments to the Commission.

The CNSC will hold a public meeting in Ottawa, Ontario on December 13 and 14, 2017 during which CNSC staff will present the report to the Commission. The report provides CNSC staff’s assessment of the 2016 safety performance of licensees and their facilities authorized by the CNSC for the processing of uranium and nuclear substances.

A total of $25,000 in participant funding is being offered for new, distinctive and valuable information through informed and topic-specific written submissions to the Commission.

The deadline to submit a participant funding application is August 21, 2017. Please note that late or incomplete funding applications will not be considered.

A funding review committee, independent of the CNSC, will consider all applications for funding and make recommendations on the allocation of funds.

The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect health, safety, security and the environment; to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
