CNSC update – Implications of PSAC strike

Federal employees represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) are in a legal strike position and could engage in strike activities as of April 19, 2023. CNSC employees are not represented by PSAC, but we are aware that strike action, including picket lines, may be set up around CNSC offices in the National Capital Region and in the regions where we may share office space with other federal departments.

PSAC striking employees are not permitted to prevent CNSC employees from reporting to work, and we continue to be focused on the safety of our employees.

Based on current information, we are not expecting any disruptions that will impede our ability to carry out licensing and compliance activities in accordance with our mandate. Please note, however, that the virtual public hearings scheduled for Wednesday, April 19 will now proceed as public hearings in writing. There may also be an impact on future Commission proceedings.
