Update to regulatory action issued to AM JADE CO.
On May 6, 2021, the CNSC provided AM JADE CO. with an opportunity to be heard regarding the order issued to the company on April 13, 2021. On June 14, 2021, the Designated Officer (to whom the order was referred for review) made the decision to amend box 5a of the original order to remove items 4, 5 and 6, and include a boundary condition to item 1, which requires the company to securely store the gauges until they are brought under regulatory control.
The decision was made based on information presented by AM JADE CO. and its representatives, a review of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act and its regulations, and a review of other documents pertaining to the order.
The order remains in effect until the terms and conditions of the amended order are met.

Order issued to AM JADE CO.
The CNSC has issued an order to AM JADE CO., a company based in Calgary, Alberta.
The company reported to the CNSC the discovery of suspected radioactive material among assets it had acquired.
CNSC staff conducted an onsite inspection and confirmed the company is in possession of 4 uncertified fixed nuclear gauges containing nuclear substances. As the company is not licensed to possess these devices, an order was issued to prohibit their use, take immediate measures to safely and securely store them, and arrange for a qualified licensee to safely dispose of the material.
The order will be considered closed when the CNSC provides the company with written confirmation that all of the steps listed in box 5a of the order have been satisfactorily addressed and the CNSC receives written confirmation from an authorized licensee that it is in receipt of the radioactive sources.
The CNSC requires these measures in order to protect the health and safety of the public and the environment.
