Participant funding for the Regulatory Oversight Report for Uranium and Nuclear Substance Processing Facilities in Canada: 2021
This participant funding opportunity is open from May 23 to June 27, 2022.
Participant funding notice
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist Indigenous Nations and communities, members of the public and stakeholders in reviewing CNSC staff’s Regulatory Oversight Report for Uranium and Nuclear Substance Processing Facilities in Canada: 2021, and in submitting comments in writing to the Commission. In addition, in the spirit of reconciliation and in recognition of the Indigenous oral tradition of sharing knowledge, the CNSC is offering Indigenous intervenors the opportunity to make oral presentations. The uranium and nuclear substance processing facilities covered by the report are located in the traditional and treaty territories of many Indigenous Nations and communities.
On December 15 and 16, 2022, the Commission will hold a public meeting at which CNSC staff will present the report to the Commission. The report will provide an overview of CNSC regulatory efforts related to the CNSC-licensed uranium and nuclear substance processing facilities in Canada during the 2021 calendar year.
Up to $50,000 in participant funding will be disbursed among all eligible applicants for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information through informed and topic-specific interventions to the Commission. Participant funding applications must clearly demonstrate how the proposed intervention will provide the Commission with information directly related to the 2021 report.
