Participant funding notice
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist Indigenous peoples, members of the public and stakeholders in the review of the licence renewal application and the Commission hearing process for the uranium mine decommissioning licence for the Cluff Lake Project by Orano Canada Inc. (Orano).
The CNSC will hold a one-part public hearing on May 15, 2019 in Ottawa, Ontario to consider an application from Orano to renew its uranium mine decommissioning licence for the Cluff Lake project for a period of five years. The current licence expires on July 31, 2019. The Cluff Lake Project is located in the Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan.
Up to $75,000 in participant funding will be dispersed among all eligible applicants for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information through informed and topic-specific interventions to the Commission. Funding will be awarded for the review of documentation – including CNSC staff’s documents and Orano’s Commission member documents – and for participation in the public Commission hearing.
