African delegation at the CNSC in January

Six specialists from Mauritania are visiting the CNSC’s Ottawa head office between January 19 and 23, 2015.

They will be here to learn about how Canada regulates uranium mines and mills.

Their five-day stay includes workshops on waste and tailings management, radiation protection and the environmental assessment process.

A tour of the CNSC’s laboratories will complement their visit.

It will be an opportunity to showcase some of the equipment and instruments used in analyzing environmental samples and in calibrating equipment employed to conduct field work.

This visit was organized through the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Visitors from Poland’s nuclear regulator this spring

In April 2015, the CNSC will welcome two fellows from the Polish National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA).

Their visit follows the establishment last September of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Poland to cooperate and exchange nuclear regulatory information.

The CNSC has similar MOUs with 15 other countries.

International partnerships are part of the CNSC’s ongoing commitment to international best practices.
