The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has released revised versions of the following draft regulatory documents for public consultation: draft regulatory document
RD-99.1, Reporting Requirements for Operating Nuclear Power Plants, and its accompanying guidance document GD-99.1, Guide to the Reporting Requirements for Operating Nuclear Power Plants.
These documents were part of a larger RD-99 suite of documents, for which public consultation was held from November 8, 2010 to December 17, 2010, followed by a second consultation period from January 5, 2011 to February 4, 2011. The CNSC has carefully considered all feedback received and has amended the draft RD-99.1 and GD-99.1 documents where appropriate.
RD-99.1 sets out the CNSC’s requirements, used in the management of its regulatory programs, for the submission of event and compliance monitoring reports. GD-99.1 provides additional guidance on how to meet these requirements, and also introduces a modernized set of safety performance indicators (SPIs).
The CNSC is now inviting comments on the revised versions of RD-99.1 and GD-99.1.
While the CNSC will consider comments on any aspects of RD-99.1 or GD-99.1, it is specifically seeking comments on the new SPIs proposed in Appendix A of GD-99.1.
To submit comments, please do so by the date noted below. Comments submitted, including names and affiliations, are intended to be made public. You will not receive a formal reply to your comments; however, they may be reflected in a report to be issued at a later date.
Please contact the CNSC if you have any questions or comments about the draft regulatory document consultation process.
