Update to regulatory action issued on September 23, 2010 to Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd.

On October 22, 2010, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) confirmed that Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd. has complied with all the terms and conditions of the order issued to this Company on September 23, 2010. The corrective measures proposed by the Company were reviewed and found satisfactory by CNSC staff, and their implementation was confirmed by a CNSC inspector during a site inspection on October 7, 2010.

Order to Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd.

On September 30, 2010, the CNSC announced that it has issued an order to Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd. of Kemble, Ontario.

The order, issued September 23, 2010, required the company to cease the use of radiation devices licensed by the CNSC, and to immediately put the equipment into storage. The company must implement an effective radiation protection program, implement corrective measures to address the regulatory non-compliances identified during the inspection, and provide training to their workers so that the licensed radiation devices can be used safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements. The order was issued as a result of an inspection conducted on September 22 at a site location in Owen Sound, Ontario.
