Order issued to Labcan (1989) Ltée

November 17, 2022

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) issued an order on November 17, 2022, to Labcan (1989) Ltée, a company based in Trois-Rivières, Québec. The company holds a licence authorizing the possession, transfer, import, use and storage of nuclear substances contained in industrial radiography exposure devices, for the purpose of materials testing.

The order was issued following a CNSC security inspection conducted on November 17, 2022. The inspection identified a lack of compliance with security requirements for transporting exposure devices in a vehicle. The order required the licensee to implement adequate security measures for transporting an exposure device in a vehicle.

On January 13, 2023, the CNSC determined that Labcan (1989) Ltée has complied with the terms and conditions of the order, which is now considered closed.

The CNSC did not previously communicate this order to the public to ensure that security was not compromised. All other information related to this order, as well as the order itself, is considered sensitive security information and cannot be published.
