Regulatory action – Interior Testing Services Ltd.
Under the Nuclear Safety and Control Act and associated regulations, various levels of regulatory action can be taken by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) to protect the health, safety and security of Canadians and the environment.

The CNSC has determined that the terms and conditions of the October 20, 2020 administrative monetary penalty (AMP) have been met and has therefore closed this regulatory action.

Administrative monetary penalty issued to Interior Testing Services Ltd.
The CNSC has issued an administrative monetary penalty (AMP) of $1000 to Interior Testing Services Ltd.
A portable gauge was shipped by the licensee with the shutter fully open, allowing higher levels of radiation exposure outside the package. This event violated IAEA Regulations related to shipment, labelling and packaging in accordance with the Packaging and Transport of Nuclear Substances Regulations, 2015 (PTNSR 2015).
The CNSC requires proper packaging in order to protect the health and safety of workers, the public and the environment.
