Regulatory Action - Canadian Engineering & Inspection Ltd.

March 17, 2021

Order issued to Canadian Engineering & Inspection Ltd.

The CNSC has issued an order to Canadian Engineering & Inspection Ltd., a company based in Edmonton, Alberta. The company currently holds a licence authorizing the possession, transfer, use and storage of nuclear substances contained in industrial radiography exposure devices, for the purpose of materials testing.

The order was issued after the CNSC determined that the licensee’s currently appointed radiation safety officer did not possess the required training and qualifications for effectively managing the licensee’s radiation safety program.

The order prohibits the licensee from using any exposure devices under its licence until it can demonstrate that a trained and qualified radiation safety officer acceptable to the CNSC has been appointed.

The CNSC requires these measures in order to protect the health and safety of workers, the public and the environment.
