Order issued to Allnorth Consultants Ltd.

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has issued an order to Allnorth Consultants Limited, a company based in Prince George, British Columbia. The company currently holds a CNSC licence authorizing the possession, transfer, use and storage of portable nuclear gauges for the purposes of measuring compaction and moisture content in materials.

The order was issued following a CNSC field inspection in Wonowon, British Columbia. The inspection revealed that the worker was not wearing a dosimeter and that radiation detection equipment was not available in proximity of the job site as per CNSC requirements. In addition, the inspection identified items of non-compliance related to requirements for worker training, dose ascertainment, device labelling, and transportation of nuclear gauges.

The order requires the licensee to remove the worker from all activities involving radiation devices until it can be demonstrated, to the CNSC’s satisfaction, that the worker has been adequately retrained in all aspects of safe radiation device handling and operation and until all items of non-compliance identified in the inspection report have been satisfactorily addressed.

The CNSC requires these measures in order to protect the health and safety of workers, the public and the environment.
